Driving Instructor Training

Contemplating a new career can be a very exciting venture but performing the necessary research before making such a life changing decision will be vital.

Looking at the training available for potential instructors, I realised just how variable the quality and the cost of training courses were, with some of the bigger companies offering training at ridiculously low prices.

After further investigation, I discovered that these companies were operating a conveyer belt style training, where no account was taken on individual learning styles or ability.
Outside scheduled training times, no further help or guidance was offered. Additionally, training sessions were conducted with up to three trainees to one instructor, so a trainee would only spend a third of their time receiving individual tuition, the remaining two thirds of their time, was spent riding in the car as a back-seat passenger.

I decided that there had to be a different way, a training programme designed to inspire confidence, and ensure that trainees receive individualised tuition, whilst giving them all the help and support they need to enable them to successfully complete the course and qualify. To offer such a high standard of tuition and a fully supportive training programme, it was vital that I undertook specialist training myself.

I offer personal 1-1 training throughout the course; from your first assessment drive, right through to the day when you qualify. You will receive help and assistance at every step of the qualifying process. I will remain on hand with career guidance, business advice and personal development once you have become a fully qualified driving instructor.
Our ADI training courses are part time; and follow a highly successful training structure. There is plenty of flexibility built in so that training can be arranged around your current commitments, allowing you to work at your own pace.

Driving instructor training is most effective when carried out at regular intervals for short periods of time (2 – 4 hours). This keeps you in frequent contact with your personal trainer and allows adequate time for your home study between training sessions.

  • Are you looking for a new challenge?

  • This might just be the opportunity you have been looking for!

Earlier this year I decided to try a change of career and train to become a driving instructor. Like many people in this situation I turned to one of the large national driving schools who appeared to be offering an attractive training package at a very reasonable cost so I contacted them and eventually signed up for their course.

This was a huge mistake as I very soon realised that the training and back up service that was initially promised simply didn’t exist. Having passed the Part 1 theory test, the practical driver training for the Part 2 test involved a 100 mile round trip for each lesson and the tuition itself left a lot to be desired. Realising that continuing with this company was futile I withdrew from the course after 3 practical lessons leaving me well short of the standard required to pass the Part 2 test as well as being well out of pocket.

I then found out that Driving Success UK Instructor Training also ran courses to become an ADI so I contacted them and met with Sandy Mann to discuss completing my training with him. We agreed to continue with my Part 2 training and after 3 two hourly training sessions with Sandy I passed my Part 2 test at the first attempt.

His whole attitude towards the training made reaching the required standard so much easier and straight forward. I am now moving on to Part 3 and if I don’t pass this final section it will be entirely my own fault.

In conclusion, I would urge anyone who is considering becoming an ADI to think very carefully about who they choose for their training – don’t be sucked in by the slightly cheaper packages offered by the larger national companies because the old adage of ”you get what you pay for” certainly applies in this case and based on my own experience you won’t find any better than Sandy Mann who also owns Driving Success UK.
